16" WHITE OAK ARMAMENT WITH ATN GEN2+ NIGHT VISION

This is one of my favorite rifles. It is built on a Mag Tactical billet magnesiun lower receiver with a White Oak Armament upper receiver and White Oak Armament 16" 1:7 SDM barrel. It uses a Rock River Arms Two Stage National Match trigger and a Palmetto Full Auto Bolt Carrier with White Oak Armament bolt. Have a habit of buying the Palmetto BCG's when super discounted, swap in a name brand bolt and put the original bolt back as a spare. Having a complete spare bolt solves broken extractor, extractor spring or bolt issue all ready to go. This rifle is topped with an ATN Generation 2+ CGT 4x Night vision scope. While I keep the I.R. illuminator mounted, have never had a night so dark it was actually needed. This is my favorite of three night vision scopes at the moment. This rifle due to being dependent on batteries has a C.A.A. stock with battery compartment for plenty of extra CR123 batteries. Like almost all of my builds it sports a single point sling attachment.

C.A.A. STOCK WITH SPARE BATTERY COMPARTMENT

If the batteries go dead in either the scope or the I.R. illuminator then having spares on-board the rifle could be critical. I use rechargable NiCad CR123's in both and every quarter they get discharged and recharged. In the C.A.A. stock are four spare batteries that are replaced annually and the ones removed put into devices that are used often. This way the rifle is always carrying a hot set of batteries and enough spares to keep it running all night if necessary.

ALTERNATE SIGHTING OPTIONS

In event the rifle gets pressed into daylight duty it has two alternate sighting systems. It came with a set of adjustible iron type sights on top for daylight use and if daylight filter is on lens then it partially obscures them. This I found odd but guess they didn't want them sticking up too proud. On the left side supplied picatinny rail have a red dot that is suprisingly easy to transition from scope to dot just by opening left eye and your immediately on target using left eye. The controls on this scope are very easy and intuitive to operate.

WHITE OAK ARMAMENT 16" ACCURACY

Below are some informal targets shot after dark with suppressor at 75 yards and unsupported. Its a bit hard to see all the hits but center target fired 25 rounds (handloads with generic 62 grain lead core bulk bargain bullets) from a single magazine (like loading 25 into my 30 round mags that sit around for long periods of time) into three groups at 75 yards. The first group on left is three rounds fired from a tree limb support into a group can about cover with a quarter. Center is about a 2.5" group with half or more nestling inside of an inch. Trying to put 20 rounds unsupported with a big heavy rifle for a hack is not quite so elegant but the area at top of tape where majority of rounds landed is an indication of the rifles capability.  Last target on right is another group supported off tree limb of five in about an inch group. Toward end of the magazine a little shooter fatige set in and groups opened up. Rifle is sighted dead on at 100 yards and point of aim was dead center of tape square. Yes, using silver tape on white background was cheating but was a moonless night and without running the I.R. illuminator it was a very bright target.
