1997 DODGE RAM

This section is intended to list the specifications and my personal thoughts on mobile radios I either own or have operated.  It is going to take a while to get them all researched, reviewed, photographed and posted.  Also, since I tend to buy new radios fairly regularly there should be fresh contend presented occasionally.  Hope someone finds this info useful.

YAESU 8900 & GALAXY 99V

The Yaesu FT-8900R is an absolutely stunning quad band FM radio.  It transmits on 70 centimeter, 2 meter, 6 meter and the 10 meter bands.  It features dual receive and cross-band repeat.  This radio  provides extended receiver coverage beyond the Amateur bands including the public safety, commercial, aircraft, and government communications ranges. Included is coverage of 28-29.7 MHz, 50-54 MHz, 108-180 MHz, 300-480 MHz, and 700-985 MHz.  This radio also provides internet linking through Yaesu's WIRES feature.  My only real complaint is how small the buttons are and the VFO knobs.  The menus require a stiff learning curve but once you become familiar with the operation of this rig it offers a world of communications possibilities.

The Galaxy 99V offers 10 and 11 meter coverage.  It has a large frequency counter and easy to read power meter.  This radio operates in FM, AM and SSB modes.  It also features variable power output from 1 to 25 watts depending on transmit mode.  I also have a separate speech processor and 325 watt 10 meter amplifier with pre-amp.  The amplifier works in both AM and SSB modes.  I have worked many states and countries all while doing my daily chores over the years with this rig.
